The 2 tons of mercury contain in the CFL's sold so far is a significant sum, but it is in a contained source allowing it to be recycled. The 50 tons from the coal plants is out in the ether, polluting our lakes and making fish essentially inedible at game fish size.

As a driver of an Insight I disagree with the "even par" statement about highway driving -I get 80+mpg at 65mph and 100+ at 45mph. Zero emmisions (if you have Green Energy in your home), decent range and top speeds in the 30-35mph range make them realistic for city cars. think of them as uber clean 4 set/season mopeds. Pricing on these here is about $10k. Great to see these coming to Wisconsin!
