Write up of an interview with Toby Hemenway, author of one of my favorite books: Gaia's Garden. Talks about his belief, that I share, that suburbia and urban markets will become the new nexus for local food production.

Terribly important book as we (re)learn how to grow food without tilling the soil for the long term sustainability of our settlements. If you are into Permaculture, you will want to check this out!

Final Chapter in the Global Gardening series on Urban Permaculture. Spends the entire time in Village Homes in CA. Bill Mollison was visibly impressed with the development, describing it as one of his favorite places on Earth. Favorite piece for me was listening to a middle school boy talk of the magic of growing up in a permaculture heaven. -Rob

Loved the use of unglazed pots sunk into soil to irrigate a roof top garden in India.

Also stresses his focus on the 3rd world as building experiencial capital for the 1st world to drawn on when we hit The Wall. Put them all together and you have an hour of inspiring, educational video that will change how you garden.

Part 4 in the Global Gardening in the Tropics Permaculture Series. Spends most of the video detailing the ridiculous economics of monoculture agriculture in the Tropics. Very moving story concerning the saving of one child (literally) through Permaculture and that boy's quest to bring permaculture to save his village. Wow, Wow, WOW!

Part 3 in the Global Gardening series on Permaculture. This video takes us to India and details the destruction of local economies from switching to Western-Style Agriculture. Shows how Permaculture can heal the damage we have done to the land, and more importantly the people. Unbelievable shots of Permaculture taking rock hard dirt and turning it into a rich, lush orchard in only 2 years! Very inspiring!!!
