Chipper little video to one of the more pressing "Peak Moments" we will experience in our lifetimes -this one concerns water. In addition to Oil and Water, we also need to be acutely concerned with "Peak" Topsoil and "Peak" Food. Thanks again to the BBC for covering topics that get skipped in American "media".

Sounds like it is a loooooong way off -no prototype yet- but it is good to hear loud rumors of some kind of more fuel miserly people mover. One can dream of a plug in diesel hybrid Mazda 5 that is WVO ready right? Make the plug in and WVO as options rather than navigation and 8 spkr systems...

From the page: "The move by GE comes as scientists are warning that 50% of the world's nations will be hit by water shortages by 2025 and 75% by 2050. Barcelona is already importing water from France."

From the page: " You may be thinking, That's all fine and good for farmers with land to sell. But what could this possibly have to do with global warming? Well, it turns out there is a connection. Part of the funding in the U.S. farm bill pays farmers to hold acreage out of production for conservation purposes. But with commodity prices reaching the stratosphere, and that same government priming the pump for ethanol production, farmers are finding they can make more off the land than what those conservation grants are paying. " ++++ Very good food & environmental blog overall and this post was particularly poignant.

Article focusing on the "low hanging fruit" f reducing the energy use of our Built Environment. Advantages are that the ROI of efficient buildings is often much better than say, a hybrid car, in the current situation. Both would benefit immensely from a carbon tax or cap/trade that would put at least some environmental damage back on the books.
